THIS FABULOUS mid 19th century mourning bracelet is made in 14k gold and black enamel. Retails for $3800. The front of the bracelet features a lily of the valley detailed with luminous seed pearls. The lily of the valley, sometimes known as the "ladder to heaven", represents the tears of the Virgin Mary and is often seen adorning mourning jewelry from the Victorian period. Each side of the bracelet is decorated with a pretty textured ground beneath what appears to be an abstract rendering of a newly sprouted plant. The edges, hinge, and clasp are decorated with zigzag engraving 14k gold, black enamel, seed pearls.
