Exactitudes

A collection of works from a collaborative project by photographer Ari Versluis and stylist Ellie Uttebroek. The title is a portmanteau of "exact" and "attitude," and features photographs of social groups encountered on the streets of various cities around the world, all shot against the same background and with the same composition.

Having worked as a model in the past, I find myself feeling both emotional and strangely comforted when I see photographs or works featuring people lined up. I've seen many constructed works in that world, but I don't think anything truly surpasses the naturalness that comes from being in the moment; I rarely see it. Ultimately, I believe that nothing can beat the atmosphere a person naturally exudes, and this collection seems to capture that essence, which is why I like it so much. I hope this feeling resonates more with Japanese people. "The person's own aura shines the brightest," right?
