A stunning piece of ancient reef history from the Mississippian seas. This genuine colonial coral fossil was found near Tower Rock in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois — an area famous for its limestone layers full of beautifully preserved marine fossils.

This specimen features visible honeycomb coral patterns and natural branching structures typical of Favosites or Hexagonaria (often called “honeycomb coral”). These corals lived over 340 million years ago, forming vast reefs long before modern corals evolved.
