Early in '71 is a limited edition chapbook of poetry written by Publitzer prize-winning writer James Schuyler. One of 490 copies (10 were hardbound), this book was published December 1981 by The Figures,

Pulitzer Prize-winning poet James Schuyler was a central member of the New York School. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. During World War II, Schuyler served on a destroyer in the North Atlantic. Before moving to New York in 1950, Schuyler lived on the Isle of Ischia in Italy and worked as a secretary for W.H. Auden.
In 1951, Schuyler met Frank O’Hara and John Ashbery at a party in New York and the three poets shared an apartment in Manhattan, working closely together and collaborating on writing projects.

Schuyler was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his book The Morning of the Poem in 1980.

Condition: very good condition. Exterior has a crease, pen mark, other slight staining and blemishes. Interior is very good. see photos for more details.
