Canaletto (1697-1768) was an Italian painter, etcher and draftsman. He was regarded as the most famous view painter from the 18th Century Venetian School.

This early scene depicts a stonemason's yard in the Campo San Vidal, set up for the construction of Andrea Tirali's facade of the church of San Vidal. Scenes of daily life are evident with laundry hanging, potted plants on several balconies, etc. Another highlight is Canaletto's Prussian Blue sky. The Stonemason's Yard resides in the National Gallery in London and is considered one of Canaletto's finest works.

This is a vintage reproduction painting printed on board. It measures 17.25 " wide, 12.25" long and 1" deep. The double wood frame features a soft blue velvet border, accented with gilt and ivory framing.
